About the memorial: Grey vertical rectangular stone with oval top and checked rounded shoulders, stone narrows below shoulders before widening again toward bottom. Stands on small horizontal rectangular foundation stone. Headstone has triple flower motif contained within basically triangular shape at top centre, lettering beneath is inscribed and self coloured.

George Allen Simpson. Private 13829. 7th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Note both CWGC and SDGW has killed in action 15th February 1916 (stone has 15th April 1916), aged 21 years. Son of (the late) Joseph and Mrs S A Simpson of 3 William Street, Scunthorpe, Lincs. Born Frodingham, enlisted Scunthorpe and resident Frodingham, Lincs. Commemorated Menin Road South Military Cemetery. I.H.9. Also commemorated Scunthorpe War Memorial and St Lawrence Church, Frodingham.
