About the memorial: Grey vertical rectangular headstone with checked square top and rounded shoulders shows faded black lettering with much missing, has smaller vertical rectangular panelled vase with container attached to right bottom side. Vase has ivy leaf decoration within frame at front face. White stone chamfered vase stands to left of headstone and is detached from it, faded black lettering to front and rear faces. Small flower decoration to each side of front face and faded black lettering to centre, rear face has only faded black lettering dedicated to WWII casualty.

Ernest William Wood. Gunner 1075381. 65 Anti Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 16th January 1943, aged 32 years. Son of William and Rose Wood, stepson of Mrs L Wood. Commemorated Alamein Memorial. Column 40.
