Oshawa” by the cockpit mounted on a plinth at the main gate, together with a memorial plaque which reads: Spitfire Mk IX This Spitfire is a replica on an aircraft flown by the Royal Canadian Air Force from RCAF Digby during the period 1942 – 1945, It was dedicated on the 75th anniversary of the Station to all personnel, service and civilian, who have served here at RAF Digby (previously known as RAF Scopwick and RCAF Digby) and also the former satellite airfields at Coleby Grange and Wellingore. The airfield was opened on 28 March 1918.
