About the memorial: The other tablet, on the north wall of the church, is of oak enriched with Corinthian pillars and has the inscription The tablets which cost £86 and £58 respectively, were designed and executed by Messes Wippell & Co., London & Exeter. The money has been raised by public subscription. Major Conway Gordon unveiled the tablets on Sunday the 9th inst. and delivered an appropriate address from the chancel steps.
