Status: On original site
Type: Other
Location: Internal
Setting: Inside a building - public/private
Description: Roll of Honour or Book of Remembrance
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: North Wall of the Nave WW1 Roll of Honour - An oblong with the long side mounted vertically. There is a moderately wide very dark wooden frame around the whole and this has decorative carving along each inner edge against the glass, this frame encloses very reflective glass behind which is a sheet of white paper which shows hand writing in black ink, although the name of the VC holder is underlined in gold. There seems to have been a slim black line drawn toward the outer edge of the paper at one time, and a piece of 'sticky tape' may have been fixed toward each corner - equally the handwritten paper may have been stuck onto another slightly larger sheet of white paper beneath. The hand written sheet shows a Union Flag toward each top corner. 0.31m wide by 0.37 high. The frame is 0.04m in width.
