About the memorial: Memorial tablet placed on the west wall of the nave of the parish church of Owston, in memory of the parishioners who have fought in the Great War, that the said tablet is of Brass and about four feet by about two feet four inches in size. Faculty Book 13. page 516, 20-4-1919. There are 180 names of whom 29 fell.

THEIR NAMES ARE SURMOUNTED/ BY THE CROSS, AND THEY WILL BE HELD IN IMPERISHABLE MEMORY BY THE PARISH./ THOSE WHO WERE WOUNDED OR WERE PRSIONERS OF WAR ARE DISTINGUISHED BY/ HAVING THEIR NAMES PLACED IN THE COLUME TO THE RIGHT OF THOSE/ WHO DIED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.
