Status: On original site
Type: Non freestanding
Location: Unknown
Setting: Attached to a building/structure
Description: Board/Plaque/ Tablet
Materials:
  • Metal Brass
  • Stone Marble
Lettering: Inscribed on a plaque
Conflicts:
  • Boer War, Second (1899-1902)
About the memorial: Higher up the wall and to the east of the WW2 tablet is a white marble background 930 x 760mm, there are 2 very small decorative supports beneath the lower edge, one toward each corner. Attached to the stone is a dark coloured brass? plaque, which has a wide decorative green strip of stylised leaves running around all edges, just in from all edges. Within this framework of leaves and at the top centre is a badge, the church was too dark for the badge to be recognised. To each side of the badge, and at 45 degrees to it so the bottom was nearer the badge while the top was diagonally farther from it was what seemed to be a stylised branch with leaves, although this is by no means certain given the visibility. Beneath this was etched the wording in black letters with white capitals., while beneath this and central at the plaques bottom were 2 crossed flags, the right flag was the Union Flag, and the left (I believe) The Royal Standard.
