About the memorial: Memorial tablet on wall of RBL building remembers all those killed in the crash of 26 OTU Wellington X3790 on 07/08/43 The aircraft had departed Little Horwood for a routine Night Sortie. The aircraft was on its approach to land when it then had to overshoot but seconds later, the Pilot lost control and the aircraft crashed into the centre of the village, completely destroying the Chandos Arms PH and many other nearby houses at 0225 Four of the five man crew were killed along with thirteen local residents. Many more were injured. One crewman survived. The RBL building stands on the site of the Chandos Arms.
