In affectionate memory of GIBBES RIGAUD Major General & Hon MA of the University of Oxford who served with the 60th Royal Rifles for 32 years, took part in the South African Campaign of 1851-3 and in the war with China in 1860 and commanded the Second Battalion of the 60th till he retired in the year 1873, a good soldier, a genial comrade, a generous friend & an unaffected Christian, his sorrowing comrades and friends have erected this tablet. He was born May 22 1820 and died Jan 1st 1885.
