About the memorial: Plaque dedicated to the memory of P/O J.D. Goode DoI 02/08/40 He was Pilot of 114 Sqn Blenheim R3898 RT-?, that had departed Horsham St. Faith, Norfolk at 1415 for Ops Haamstade on 01/08/40 The aircraft was intercepted by Bf109’s of JG54 based at Flushing and shot down by Oblt Franz Eckarde and crashed at Kraagienstein at 1500. Two other members of the crew were killed, but the critically injured, P/O Goode was first taken to Hospital in Zieriksee before being transferred to a second Hospital in Bergen Op Zoom where he died from his injuries the next day.
