About the memorial: Memorial Plaque remembers all those killed in the crash of 21 OTU Wellington T2962 close to the church on 07/07/42 The aircraft had departed Moreton in Marsh for a routine Cross-Country NAVEX. During the flight the aircraft suffered Starboard Engine failure. Whilst attempting to make a forced landing, it hit trees lost a wing and crashed in flames close to Llangrove church at 1700. Two of the crew were killed, four others were injured. However the tragedy also affected the local community A local woman (the church organist) running to the scene carrying buckets of water to fight the fire collapsed and died of a heart attack close to the crash Whilst cycling home after attending the crash site and administering the Last Rites to those that died, the local vicar also collapsed and died of a heart attack
