About the memorial: Memorial on roadbridge over brook remembers the crew of 1653 HCU Lancaster ND949 H4-P who died when their aircraft crashed close to this site on 08/04/45 It had departed North Luffenham on a Fighter Affiliation Exercise During the Ex against a Spitfire, the Lancaster lost control and dived into the ground at 1515 into what, in 1945 was fields. Post war it is now part of the Thurnby estate on the eastern edge of the city of Leicester All six crew were killed

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
