About the memorial: A plaque on top of a wooden bookcase remembers F/O A.V. Crawford RAFVR, who was KIA 15/06/43 He was Pilot of 50 Sqn Lancaster ED810 VN-Z that had departed Skellingthorpe for Ops Oberhausen The aircraft was intercepted at 6000M above Ekeren by a Night-Fighter captained by Uffz Rudolph Frank (II/NJG3 – detached to II/NJG/1) and shot down for his 9th Abschusse The aircraft crashed at Ekeren, 8km N of Antwerp, Belgium at 0124 with the loss of all seven crew
