IN MEMORY OF HENRY ANSTRUTHER ESQ 2ND LIEUT 23RD WELSH FUSILIERS BORN 4TH JUNE 1836 AND FELL IN THE BATTLE OF THE ALMA 20TH SEPTEMBER 1854 WHILE CARRYING THE QUEEN'S COLOUR OF THE REGIMENT. THIS MONUMENT IS ERECTED BY THE CLERGY, TENANTRY AND OTHERS CONNECTED WITH THE ESTATES OF BALCASKIE WATTON ETC AS A TRIBUTE TO HIS SIMPLE FAITH, AFFECTIONATE HEART AND UNDAUNTED COURAGE, AND AS A TOKEN OF THEIR DEEP SORROW FOR HIS EARLY BUT GLORIOUS DEATH
