About the memorial: The tribute takes the form of a large tablet of English Oak which has been placed on the wall of the north aisle, surrounded by a blue and gold border, embellished with carved and gilt bosses. At the top is a carved and painted representation of a soldier and sailor kneeling on either side of the crucifix, whilst underneath are the words The tablet – which was designed by Mr. Wilfred Bond FRIBA of Grantham and executed by Mr Bowman of Stamford is of 15th century design to harmonize with the architecture of the church The unveiling and dedication ceremony was performed in front of a large congregation, on Wednesday evening, unveiled by Major Dean, dedicated by the Bishop of Lincoln Lincolnshire Chronicle, dated Saturday 14th April 1923
