About the memorial: Memorial Board remembers those lost in the crash of 106 Sqn Lancaster JB534 ZN-K close to this site on 15/02/44 It had departed Metheringham at 1720 for Ops Berlin On its return and whilst circling Metheringham waiting for permission to land, it banked hard to avoid another aircraft stalled and crashed at 0110 Four crew were killed, the remaining three were all injured, the Wireless Operator DoI later the same day
