About the memorial: A pitched wooden framed backboard holding a pitched metal plaque. At the apex of the plaque is the badge of 106 Squadron R.A.F. and a colour picture of a Lancaster bomber in flight. Below in blue and black writing are details of the crash and the crew members. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

IN MEMORY OF THE CREW OF JB534 ZN-K,/ 106 SQN, RAF METHERINGHAM/ AT 17.20 HOURS ON THE 15TH FEBRUARY 1944, LANCASTER JB534 ZN-K/ TOOK OFF FROM RAF METHERINGHAM, DESTINATION BERLIN./ SEVEN HOURS LATER, AFTER SAFELY RUNNING THE GAUNTLET OF/ FORMIDABLE GERMAN DEFENCES, ZN-K WAS IN THE CIRCUIT WAITING TO/ LAND. IN AVOIDING A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER LANCASTER,/ CONTROL WAS LOST RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT CRASHING IN THE/ ADJACENT FIELD.
