About the memorial: Plaque in local church remembers Sgt P.A. Gilliatt WOP 630 Sqn KIA 27/07/44 He was Wireless Operator on 630 Sqn Lancaster, ND527 LE-O that had departed East Kirkby at 2117 for Ops Givors (Railway Marshalling Yards) The cause of its loss is unknown The aircraft crashed at St. Ignat, France at 0245 with the loss of all seven crew.
