IN MEMORY OF THE BLACKPOOL AND FYLDE/ FAR EAST PRISONERS OF WAR ASSOCIATION/ The Blackpool and Fylde Far East Prisoners of War Association (F.E.P.O.W.)/ was formed after World War Two by 137 Field Regiment RATA/ (Locally knowns as "The Blackpool Regiment".)/ In subsequent years they welcomed FEPOW s from Districts further afield/ Members formed a very strong friendship which lasted well into the 21st Century/ Sadly due to ill age and health/ the Association had to wind down in 2007/ Three and a half years of captivity, starvation and maltreatment suffered by these/ under the brutality of their Japanese captors should never be forgotten./ This plaque is a reminder of one of the worst conflicts/ known to man/ and/ in memory of those who died and the spirit of those who endured/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
