About the memorial: Memorial to all those killed in a tragic mid air collision above this site on 11/03/45 463 (RAAF) Sqn Lancaster LM130 JN-N "Nick the Nazi Neutralizer" had departed Waddington for a Fighter Affiliation Ex 1690 BDTF (Bomber Defence Training Flight) Hurricane PZ740 had departed Metheringham - as part of the same Ex Whilst participating in evasive manoeuvres the two aircraft collided close to the village of Blankney at 2100 All seven aircrew in the Lancaster were killed The Hurricane Pilot - F/O SF Parlato DFC RNZAF was also killed in the tragedy
