A memorial inscription taken by the Lincolnshire Family History Society, believed to be in the early 20oo’s, spacing unknown read: “In loving memory of Sophia Elizabeth / the beloved wife of / John James Panton / who fell asleep Jan 7th 1899 / aged 33 years / Also of L. Corporal George Panton …………………………killed in action in France Nov 18th 1915 aged 21 years.

The above refers to PANTON John George, Lance Corporal 2690, 4th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment.
