About the memorial: Memorial Plaque on Wooden Kneeler. Pilot of 76 Squadron Halifax LW647 MP-W, that had departed Holme on Spalding Moor at 2211 for Ops Nuremburg. The aircraft was intercepted by a Night-Fighter captained by Ofw Rudolph Frank (III/NJG3) and shot down down The aircraft crashed at Nieder Moos, 6km N NNW of Freiensteinau, Germany at 0001 Five of the crew were KIA, two became POW F/O Greenacre had previously been a member of the Church Choir By sheer chance, this memorial was visited 74 years to the day of F/O Greenacre's loss
