About the memorial: A garden dedicated to Special Operations forces within the Allied Special Forces Grove: Garden 1 of seven. The garden is composed of grassland, trees and shrubs and has a number of individual commemorative plaques and memorials. "Annette's Memorial Way" leads through the garden and is marked by a seat constructed out of a fallen tree trunk. In addition to a small black metal plaque bearing the name "Annette's Memorial Way", there is a large square metal plaque with a sculpture of a stag, in relief, above the name of the organisation that created the tree-seat. Attached to the tree seat are individual brass memorial plaques, including plaques to members of REME and the Green jackets.. Within the garden are the following: 1. Dr. John McCrae Tree Seat, including a blue plaque which bears the poem "In Flanders Fields" below a red poppy 2. 138 & 161 Squadrons RAF Memorial - RAF Tempsford 3. 299 Squadron RAF Memorial - Special Operations Flights - "Y" Worry (see WMR 81239) 4. 624 Squadron RAF Memorial - Special Duties Flights 5. Special Forces Signals Association Memorial 6. Escape Lines Memorial Society - Home Run Memorial Stone 7. Squadron Leader Vera Atkins Memorial Seat and the women of "F" (French) section, Special Operations Executive (this is also listed separately on the register as WMR 77360). 8. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
