About the memorial: Adajcent to a public footpath just south of the village is a Memorial to the crew of Wellington LP286 12 OTU 12/04/45 The aircraft departed Chipping Warden at 1238 on 12/04/45 for a routine Cross-Country NAVEX. Following the failure of the Starboard Engine, the aircraft returned to base but failed to land off its first approach. As it climbed away, it stalled and crashed in Edgecote Park on the airfield perimeter at 1403. Five of the crew were killed, the Rear Gunner survived albeit injured
