About the memorial: F/L C.E.M. Graham MiD was the Navigator on 617 Sqn Lancaster MF923 KC-M, that had departed Woodhall Spa at 1918 on 23/09/44 for Ops Ladbergen (the Dortmund – Ems Canal) The aircraft did not bomb and whilst homebound, it was intercepted by a Night-Fighter Three engines were knocked out and a fire developed in the Bomb Bay which was still containing a “Tall Boy”. The aircraft was abandoned and crashed onto a road at Lochem, Holland at 2300 Two of the seven crew were killed, one was injured, two became POW and two evaded NB This location is spelt as either Tithby or Tythby - both examples are used on local roadsigns!
