About the memorial: Photographs of Mr J J Moore and Mr A B Cosgrove. Mr Moore had been headmaster of the school for 37 years, he enlisted at the outbreak of war aged 54. Mr Cosgrove was an assistant master at the school. He enlisted in September 1914, and died of wounds 1 May 1916 (note that CWGC give date of death as 31 May 1916). (c IWM Register) If the IWM information is correct, Mr Moore must have become headmaster at the age of 17. There seems to be no school in Kimblesworth now, though there is one in nearby Nettlesworth. As the IWM is convinced that it is lost we must assume that the school was closed and t he photograph lost.
