About the memorial: Memorial to Maj Beresford Arthur Jardine Havelock, 2nd Battalion the Prince of Wales North Staffordshire Regiment. Son of George Broadfoot Havelock and Annie Helen Beresford. Educated at Branscombe Scool, Godalming, Surrey. Attended the Royal Military College 1908-10. Served in WW1. Killed in action while defending Baku, Azerbaijan against Turkish troops when attached to the 7th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment aged 28 years. Also commemorated on the Baku Memorial in Azerbaijan.
