About the memorial: Memorial to Memorial to Captain Alexander Lindsay Macdonald, MC, The Black Watch, attached to the Royal Flying Corps. Son of Donald Macdonald. Gentlemen cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned on 10 Aug 1915. In Sep 1915 gained his pilots certificate at the Military school, Farnborough. Joined No 9 Squadron, Royal Flying Corps who were carrying out artillery observation flying RE8s. Awarded the Military Cross (London Gazette 22 Sep 1916). Shot down and killed with 2nd Lieutenant Francis John Ashburnham Wodehouse. He is buried in Grave III. D. 10. of Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, Arrondissement Ieper, West Flanders (West-Vlaanderen), Belgium.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
