About the memorial: Memorial to Major Richard Ducat, 20th Duke of Cambridge's Own Infantry (Brownlow's Punjabis). Son of the late Major-General Claude Malet Ducat and Fanny Philippa Ducat. Born and baptised (13 Sep 1871) in Ahmednuggur, Maharashtra, India. Husband of Mrs Ducat of 60 Abingdon Villas, Kensington, London. Killed in action at Fao (Al Faw), Shot-el-Arab (Shatt-al-Arab) river, Mesopotamia aged 43 years, days after the initial landing at Fao by the British force entering Mesopotamia. He is buried in grave III. J. 7. of the Basra War Cemetery, Iraq.
