About the memorial: There was a most impressive ceremony at the Boston Guildhall on Saturday morning last, when the Boston Court of Sewers unveiled a brass tablet, placed on the wall of the room in which the meeting of the Commissioners are held, in memory of the late Meaburn Staniland who was killed in Belgium on July 29th 1915. Unveiled by Mr. F. E. Bowser on the 22nd December 1917 Cost £31 5s.

IN PROUD MEMORY OF Meaburn Staniland, Captain, 4th Lincolnshire Regiment, Clerk to the Commissioners of Sewers for the Wapentake of Skirbeck, and Town Clerk of Boston. A gallant Gentleman who have his life for his country, near Hooge, in Belgium, on the 29th day of July, 1915. This tablet is placed here by the Commissioners attending the Boston Court, to perpetuate his memory, and to mark the affection and esteem in which he was held
