About the memorial: Note The present memorial cannot be the original which was for Basil Wood only: This week-end a handsome, as well as substantial, memorial tablet has been placed in the Boston Parish Church in memory of the late Lieut. Basil Wood, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wood, of Skirbeck Quarter. The plate, which is of brass in a marble frame, bears the following inscription: - “To the glory of God and in memory of Thomas Basil Wood, Second-Lieut., 4th Lincs. Regt., killed in action near Vermelles, France, October 13th, 1915, age 2o years. Well done, thou good and faithful servant: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.’ “The tablet was erected by Messrs, Sherwin and Son, and it occupies a position in the north-east corner of the nave.
