About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Thomas Lewis Vyvyan Moody, 1st Battalion The Buffs. Son of Richard Stanley Hawks Moody and Mary Moody. Born in Peshawar, Bengal, India (now Pakistan). Educated at Eastbourne College and Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the 1st Battalion The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). Served in France with his Battalion. Whilst in command of two platoons surrounded by German troops, he was shot by a German officer with a revolver whilst leading his men in an attempt to break through the enveloping German forces near Lagnicourt. He is also commemorated on Bay 2 of the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
