About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Maurice Ives Berthon Howell, 1st Battalion the Queens. Son of Thomas Arthur Ives Howell and Frances Elisabeth Margaret Howell (nee Berthon), of Bryn Derwen, Crestway, Roehampton. Educated at Radley College and the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the 1st Battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment) in Nov 1914. Went to France in Dec 1914. Died aged 19 years. Commemorated on Panels 13 to 15 of the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
