About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Edward George Francis Gunning. Son of Kate Francis Gunning, of 11B, Cromwell Place, South Kensington, London, and the late Francis Porter Gunning, J.P., of Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, Ireland. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 1909-1910. Commissioned into the Irish Guards 2 Sep 1910. Transferred to the Royal Field Artillery. Died accidentally aged 29 years while attached to the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, based at No 6 Base Supply Depot, Calais. He is buried in grave XVIII.A.15 of Les Baraques Cemetery, Sangatte, Calais, France
