About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Ainslie Douglas Talbot, 1st Battalion the Lancashire Fusiliers. Only son of Colonel Johnston Stoney Talbot, Kings Shropshire Light Infantry, and Eileen Talbot of Ashgrove, County Tipperary, Ireland. Born in Henley Park, Nr Normandy, Surrey. Baptised on 27 Nov 1887 in Wyke, Surrey. Trained at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Lancashire Fusiliers on 18 Sep 1908. Served in India. Engaged to Dorothy Everard Turle, a nurse. Killed in action at Gallipoli aged 28 years. Buried in Grave E.63. of the Lancashire Landing Cemetery, Turkey.
