About the memorial: Very tall tapering obelisk on plinth and 4 stepped base, with a stone dedication tablet on the 6 o'clock face of the plinth. It is at OS Map Reference NS 39154 03951. A fantastic view from the top – walking boots required. It can be seen from Straiton and for several miles around, the people in the first photo give it some scale.
