About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Atholl Gunning Hunter, 32nd Lancers, Indian Army. Son of Major General John Gunning Hunter and Louisa McCallum (married 31 Mar 1885 in St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh and divorced in 1920). Educated at Bedford School. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst in 1912. Commissioned into the Indian Army. Served in WW1. Mentioned in dispatches. Promoted to Lieutenent 22 Apr 1915 and to Captain 22 Jan 1917. Killed in action with 32nd Lancers in Mesopotamia aged 22 years.
