About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Geoffrey Douglas Lothian Nicholson, 4th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. Only Son of Major General Sir Cecil Lothian Nicholson K.C.B., C.M.G. and Dame Katherine Elizabeth Frances Nicholson (nee Ranking) of Hursley, Camberley, Surrey. Baptised on the 9 Jan 1898 at St George’s Church, Agra, Bengal, India. Educated at the Grange School, Folkestone, Kent and Marlborough College, Wiltshire. Commissioned into the Worcestershire Regiment 6 Apr 1916. Deployed to France Nov 1916. Killed in an action during the Arras offensive at the 2nd Battle of the Scarpe in France aged 19 years.
