About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Jocelyn Stewart Curtis, 3rd Battalion The Rifle Brigade. Son of Thomas Reginald and Dorcas Stewart Curtis, of Roffey Hurst, Horsham, Sussex. Trained at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst 1916-17. Commissioned into the Rifle Brigade on 1 May 1917. Killed in action near Vadencourt on the Somme aged 20 years (19 on the CWGC website). Also commemorated on Panels 81 to 84 of the Pozieres Memorial, Pozieres, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.
