About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Anthony Morris Coats Hewat, 2nd Battalion The Royal Scots. Son of Lt Colonel Henry Roper-Curzon Hewat (Royal Scots Fusiliers) and Jessie McKenzie Hewat, of Fayre Oakes, Hereford. Husband of Stella Eleonora Hutton (formerly Hewat, daughter of the Rev Rhys Bishop). Educated at Victoria College, St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into The Royal Scots May 1903. Promoted to Lieutenant Mar 1905 and Captain Jul 1913. Killed in action at the Battle of the Marne aged 29 years. Buried in Orly-sur-Morin Communal Cemetery, Orly-sur-Morin, Departement de Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France.
