About the memorial: Memorial to Captain Stuart Christian Tinne, Royal West Kent Regiment. Son of Theodore Frederick Sandbach Tinne and Grace Elizabeth DuncombeTinne (nee Lane) of The Chine, Wrecclesham, Surrey. Wounded in France and unable to return to Regimental duty. Transferred to the Royal Flying Corps. Died in the Imperial Hotel, Hythe, Kent while an instructor at No. 1 School of Aerial Gunnery, Royal Flying Corps, aged 22 years. He is buried in St Peter's Churchyard extension, Wrecclesham, Surrey.
