About the memorial: Memorial to Captian Edwin Richard Lloyd Maunsell, 1st Battalion the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Son of Major John Drought Maunsell and Euphemia Sullivan Maunsell (nee Bush), of Taunton, Somerset. Educated at Brentwood School Brentwood, Essex 1900-1905. Resided at Ballywilliam, Dudsbury Ave, Longham, East Dorset (Nr Ferndown). Gentleman cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned on 4 Mar 1911 into the Royal Dublin Fusiliers. Killed in action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, France aged 25 years. Buried in grave I. A. 11. of Auchonvillers Military Cemetery, Auchonvillers, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.
