About the memorial: Memorial to Captain John Allan Mackay Scobie (Ian), MC, 59th Royal Scinde Rifles (Frontier Force). Son of Mackay John Scobie (Indian P.W.D., retired) and Louisa Scobie (Nee Scott), of "Woodlands," 11, Stourwood Avenue, Bournemouth. Educated at Haileybury School. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College 1910. Wounded at Ypres in April, 1915 and was awarded the MC. Mentioned in Despatches. Promoted Captain 1 Sep 1916. Killed in action in the assault on the Dujailah Redoubt in Mesopotamia aged 24 years.
