Plaque 1 MEMORIAL WINDOWS / by Moshe Galili / The Memorial Windows by the artist / Moshe Galili / were designed and made for the / memory of his father, / other members of his family, / and for the hundreds of thousands / of Hungarian Jews / who perished in the Holocaust. / His father, / who fought in the Jewish resistance / against the Nazis in Budapest, was mortally wounded. / His body has never been found. / His mother spiritedly refused to give in / and managed, / while often in great physical danger and / under great stress, / to save all four of her young children. Plaque 2 This window is dedicated to / Victoria Ancona-Vincent / Born Jerusalem 26 June 1923 / Died Nottingham 5 August 1996 / Victoria often spoke about the / arrival of innocents at Auschwitz / and wrote of their fate: / All i could see was a mass of people / in front of me and behind, slowly / moving forward to a small wooden / desk. The infirm, the sick, the women / with children, and pregnant women / were all sent calmly to the left. / The few of us who remained / were marched away. / This window was created by Roman Halter / based on the photograph of a woman / and children arriving at the / gas chambers at Auschwitz-Birkenau.
