About the memorial: Memorial to 2nd Lieutenant Clarence William Goodall, South Staffordshire Regiment. Son of Edward W (Medical Superintendent of Hospital) and Kate E Goodall, of Bartram Lodge, Fleet Road, Hampstead, London. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the South Staffordshire Regiment on 26 Jan 1916. Killed in action on the Somme aged 20 years. Buried in Serre Road Cemetery No. 2, Beaumont-Hamel, Departement de la Somme, Picardie, France.
