About the memorial: IWM Register states - *Framed printed commemoration of the use of the hospital by the British Army in WW1. Possibly a proforma given to VAD hospitals. This may not be the original location. Strathpeffer is said to have had 2 Military Hospitals- see the 'Long, Long Trail' reference- at the Spa Hotel which was destroyed by fire in WW2 (see the 'Ambaile reference) and at the Nicolson MacKenzie Memorial Hospital (now a private house- see the HER reference). The other references show the Highland Hotel was used in WW2, and so far as they indicate use of a specific building seem to be referring to The Spa Hotel also being used as a US Navy Hospital in WW1. The evidence, in any event, is not totally conclusive."
