About the memorial: Memorial to Major Harvey St George James Pulford, 4th Prince Albert Victor's Rajputs. Son of Colonel Russell Richard Pulford, C.I.E. (Royal Engineers) and Lucy Annie Pulford. Baptised on 22 Feb 1883 at Lucknow, India. Educated at Rivington and Blackrod Grammar School, Bolton. Husband of Hilda Frances Pulford (daughter of Henry Frances Huntley), of Louisa Cottage, Exmouth, Devon. Married on 9 Nov 1909 in Calcutta, Bengal, India. Promoted to Captain 27 Aug 1911. Served in Mesopotamia during WWI. Mentioned in Despatches. First British Military Governor of Nasiriya, Mesopotamia. Died aged 33 years. Buried in grave IV.S.10. at Basra War Cemetery, Al Basrah, Basra, Iraq. He is also commemorated on a stained glass window in the chapelof Rivington and Blackrod High School.
