About the memorial: Memorial to Lieutenant Archibald Frederick Ritchie, 2nd Battalion the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. Son of the late Major J R Ritchie, Royal Garrison Artillery, and Eva M. L. Ritchie, of Fiveways, Camberley, Surrey. Grandson of Major General J Ritchie of Montagu House, Southsea. Born in Queenstown (now Cobh), Co Cork, Ireland. Educated at Haileybury College 1909–12.. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry on 25 Feb 1914. Killed in action during the retreat to the Marne at Le Cateau, France aged 19 years. Commemorated on the La Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial, La Ferte-sous-Jouarre, Departement de Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, France and on a memorial at Haileybury College, Hertfordshire.
