Status: Lost/missing
Type: Non freestanding
Location: Internal
Setting: Inside a building - public/private
Description: Board/Plaque/ Tablet
Materials:
  • Stone Marble
Lettering: Painted
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: Wall-mounted marble tablet with laurel wreath at top and a vase of flowers at each side. Paid for by the Staff, with the exception of the vases, provided by two Widows, Mrs Tuck and Mrs Sawyer, which were inscribed to their late husbands. 68 staff had served, 37 prior to conscription. Of 72 established Postmen 53 had served. The address given here is of the present building, which is clearly much newer that when the memorial was dedicated in 1920.Presumably it was lost when either the service moved to a new site or the building was reconstructed.
