About the memorial: Petitioned by the relatives of Fred Parkes and Harold Parkes to provide and place a memorial tablet on the south wall of the parish church of Dunholme, the said tablet is to bear the following inscription namely: Faculty Book 13, page 323.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

“To the Glory of God and in ever loving memory of Fred Portus, 2nd Batt. Sherwood Foresters, sixth son of John and Catherine Portus of Dunholme Lodge, who died of wounds received in action in Flanders Sept 28th 1917 aged 34. Also of Harold Portus, 1st Batt, Aus. Imp Forces, only son of Maltby John and Alice Portus, Killed in action at Poziers, France July 25 1916 aged 23. They gave their lives for their country.
