About the memorial: Dedicated by Earl French on 15th July 1923. From the County of Middlesex Independent, 18th July 1923: 'The memorial, which is composed of oak, is situated on the north-west wall of the church, filling a gap between two stained-glass windows. It is surmounted by a "Calvary," and in addition to the names it bears the following inscriptions:- "Remember the gallant Dead, men of this Parish, who gave their lives in the Great War, 1914-1918. Their name liveth for evermore." "Thanks be unto God, Who giveth us the victory through Our Lord Jesus Christ."' However, IWM gives a much briefer inscription, 'PRO PATRIA / 1914-1918 1939-1945', and the transcription by West Middlesex FHS (online at Find My Past) gives names for both wars. More investigation is needed, but as the memorial is no longer in the church it cannot be checked.
